400 jaar na de eerste revolutionaire waarnemingen van Galilei met zijn een voudige telescoop, wordt een Arianeraket gelanceerd. Aan boord zijn twee ruimtetelescopen die gesofisticeerde waarnemingen moeten mogelijk maken. Aan de hand van dit verhaal komen we meer te weten over de geboorte en dood van sterren. Ook de boeiende evolutie van het heelal -van de Big Bang tot nu- wordt op een begrijpelijke manier aangebracht.

Duur: 30 min. / Moeilijkheidsgraad: Voor een publiek v.a. 9 jaar.

De voorstelling wordt getoond op zaterdag, zondag, feestdagen en tijdens de schoolvakanties om 17u00.

Aux confins de l’Univers invisible

Quatre cents ans après les découvertes révolutionnaires de Galilée, deux satellites scientifiques extrêmement perfectionnés sont lancés dans l’espace. Ces formidables télescopes spatiaux ausculteront l’Univers profond pour dévoiler l’invisible. Ils nous permettront d’observer la naissance des étoiles et des planètes et porteront le regard jusqu’au commencement même du temps!Durée: 30 min / Niveau: tout public dès 9 ans.

Le spectacle est proposé à 17h les samedis, dimanches, jours fériés et pendant les congés scolaires.

A star-studded evening at the Zeiss Planetarium Schwaz 10th anniversary

Zeiss Planetarium Schwaz Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Numerous guests from politics, business and sport accepted planetarium director Gabi-Krieger Wolf’s invitation to celebrate the planetarium’s 10 anniversary.

A star-studded evening 
The road was closed and transformed into a “Walk of Fame” with 1111 yellow stars. Entertainment abounded with musicians, a galactical competition and a game show ”Star Master”. And, under the dome, guests marveled at the “Best of 10 Years” planetarium show. 

ESA cooperation with planetariums
The Zeiss Planetarium Schwaz has achieved great success over the years, not least because of its innovative technologies and the ingenuity of its staff. ESA has been cooperating with the planetarium since 2002. In addition to exhibitions on various space topics, special projects were undertaken, such as “Touching the Edge of the Universe” which was developed in cooperation with 30+ planetariums including the Zeiss Planetarium Schwarz. The key to the success of a project like this is in combining the experience of planetariums, their passion for astronomy, and their ability to reach specific target groups with the scientific knowledge and the communications know-how of the European Space Agency.

The full-dome digital planetarium was the first of its kind in Argentina and is still one of the main attractions of the city. With 65 seats, every visitor can immerse into the moving scenery that surrounds him totally. ESA’s planetarium show perfectly fits this technology and has been using the latest camera and animation techniques to create the specific 360° environment. And it has been re-dubbed from standard Spanish into Argenine Spanish to make the show fit perfectly to the planetarium.

Malargüe is located 1.200 km West of Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires and draws numbers of tourists every year. Snowy mountains, huge volcanoes, large plains, lakes and streams symbol a pure environment for hikers, skiers and all outdoor activities year round. Even the planetarium building has been constructed in view of heavy snowfall in winter and is covered by a pyramid.

Located at an altitude of  1.430 Meters above and far away from the sea, Malargüe is a perfect place for astronomers as well. That’s why ESA is currently building its latest deep space antenna just 30 km South of the city – a 600 tons receiver dish with 35 Meters in diameter, becoming operational in 2012.

The planetarium show “is a perfect tool to explain complex science to the citizens. Playing the show at such a unique place brings space even more down to Earth”, says the planetarium manager, Marisa Marañón. The premiere on 8 July will be followed by regular showings.

Aux Confins de l’Universe Invisible and Naar de Grens van het Universum tell the story of the exploration of the Universe with telescopes. While the earliest findings of Galileo Galilei raised a storm of indignation about the conception of the world, today’s astronomical findings astound us and tell us new stories about stars and galaxies.

Space telescopes have changed our perception of the Universe and provide insight into an invisible world. Our journey follows the latest space telescopes Herschel and Planck and explains their mission in easy words.

400 year anniversary

100,000 visitors represents a successful milestone for the show, and at the same time indicates strong public interest in visual storytelling. It’s even more remarkable compared to the cost and complexities of large and expensive cinema productions. In comparison, the US movie “The Wrestler,” for example, has attracted an audience just 30 percent greater in these same countries, a number “that we’ll reach easily during this year,” says project manager Adam Majorosi.

A growing number of planetaria have indicated strong interest in European planetarium show. A total of 43 licenses have been issued, with half dozen to follow shortly. New versions in English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and Russian are making the show increasingly attractive to licensees and it is now available in either a 45- or 25-minute version.

Continuing a run of successful international premiere openings, ESA’s planetarium Touching the Edge of the Universe show has been dubbed into the French language. With production in Canada and France and final mixing in a Berlin studio, the planetarium show has been carefully translated, adapted for lip-sync and synchronized by professional actors.

Furthermore, the show has been completely re-worked into a new, compact 25-minute version – without the Mars sequence – that matches the showing times that are customary among some planetaria. This short version allows planetaria to start by presenting the nightly sky, before entering into the story of the Herschel and Planck spacecraft. At the end of the program, new findings and the latest images can be added within the usual one-hour slot of a planetarium schedule.

With the French version, a large planetarium community will be able to profit from this modern, high-quality production. Planetaria in France, Canada and Africa as well as multi-language domes in Switzerland, Belgium and the rest of Europe can now show the English and French and other versions at the same time.
